Topps
The name of Topps is one that is known to kids and former kids around the country and around the world, and this fine company continues to exude its magic on generation after generation.
Topps is of course best known for its line of baseball cards and bubble gum, but there is much more to this company, including a unique line of confections, sticker collections, collectible strategy games and a number of other trading cards.
The Topps Company began its corporate life as Topps Chewing Gum, way back in 1938. In the early years of the company Topps produced a very popular penny candy known as "Topps Gum". Produced in its Brooklyn, New York factory, this confection was a big hit with kids, and this penny candy would form the basis of much of the company's future success.
By 1950 the company had added its popular Bazooka bubble gum and trading cards to its line, and its famous baseball cards followed a year later in 1951. These unique trading cards quickly became a staple of pop culture, a tradition that continues to this day. Other trading cards soon followed, including football cards, basketball cards and soccer cards. Other trading card packs focused on entertainment figures, movies and television shows, and these entertainment based products were also joined by special stickers and albums.
In the year 2003 the Topps Company acquired WizKids, LLC, a company known for designing and marketing collectible strategy claims. This acquisition allowed the company to expand into this new market, much to the delight of children everywhere.
These days the Topps Company maintains offices in a number of countries around the world, including not only the United States but Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Argentina and Italy.
In addition to its famous baseball cards and bubble gum, Topps Company also manufactures the ever popular brands of lollipops known as Push Pops, Ring Pops, Baby Bottle Pops and other types of novelty candy. The company is now headquartered in New York City, where they continue to enjoy success and delight children around the country and around the world.
