Tootsie Roll candy are chewy chocolate candies that have been manufactured in the United States since 1896. They are one of the best-selling candies in the world. Besides the original chocolate ones, there are also delicious flavored Tootsie Rolls that come in a variety of scrumptious flavors. Known as Tootsie Roll Fruit Rolls, flavors include cherry, orange, vanilla, lemon, and lime. These varieties are wrapped in red, orange, blue, yellow and green wrappers, respectively. Tootsie Rolls Pops were invented in 1931 by Luke Weisgram, an employee of The Sweets Company of America . The company changed its name to Tootsie Roll Industries in 1966. In addition to chocolate (the original flavor), Tootsie Pops come in cherry, orange, grape, raspberry, strawberry, watermelon, blue raspberry and pomegranate flavors. Another release of Tootsie Pops, named Tropical Stormz, features five swirl-textured flavors: orange pineapple, lemon lime, strawberry banana, citrus punch, and berry berry punch. In 2003, sixty million Tootsie Rolls and twenty million Tootsie Pops were produced every day.
Tootsie Pops have become very popular lollipops and are great for just about any occasion.
