The history of Toblerone dates all the way back to the year 1867, when founder Jean Tobler opened his first store in Bern, Switzerland. The company grew quickly, and demand for the company's distinctive products quickly rose to the point where Mr. Tobler needed to open his own factory. This factory opening took place in 1899, and a new candy maker was born.

The actual Toberone candy we know and love today came into being in 1908, when this unique chocolate shape was first developed. This unique chocolate product, with its distinctive triangular shape and special logo, quickly became a big seller.

The Toblerone brand name was registered the following year, becoming the first patented milk chocolate, almond and honey product.

A little known fact about this unique company is that Albert Einstein once worked there, perhaps enjoying a few of these special treats during his workday.

The packaging and recipe for the classic Toblerone candy has undergone a number of changes throughout the year, including the removal and reintroduction of the famous eagle on the front of the packaging. In addition a number of unique flavor combinations have been introduced, including dark chocolate Toblerone for the dark chocolate lover and white chocolate Toblerone for lovers of white chocolate. Toblerone minis have also been introduced to great success, as have a number of filled Toblerone bars, much to the delight of chocolate lovers around the world.
