Chocolate Chip Candy Cookies
Just about everyone loves the taste of cookies, and candy lovers are in prevalent supply as well. If you’ve always wanted to combine these two great tastes, then this recipe is for you.
Ingredient List
- 3/4 cup of unsalted butter
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1/2 cup of light brown sugar
- 1 whole egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon of maple extract
- 1 teaspoon of chocolate extract
- 1/2 teaspoon of orange extract
- 2-1/4 cups of all purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons of heavy cream
- 1/2 a teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1 cup of semisweet miniature baking chips
- 1 cut of caramel filled chocolate candy (caramel filled Hershey’s Kisses work well)
- 3/4 cup of uncooked oats
- 1/2 cup of finely chopped pecans
Preparation Steps
Begin by preheating the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Use a medium sized microwave safe bowl to melt the unsalted butter, the granulated sugar and the light brown sugar together. Put the microwave on medium to low power and set it for between 15 to 30 seconds. As the ingredients are being heated, be sure not to burn the butter.
Allow the butter and sugar mixture to cool a little bit, and then carefully blend in the whole egg and the egg yolk. Next add the maple extract, chocolate extract and orange extract, and then the heavy cream.
Stir the ingredients and set them aside. Sift the dry ingredients together and fold them into the wet mixture, making sure they are well blended. Next add the chocolate chips, the caramel filled candies, the oats and the chopped pecans.
Chill the dough in a freezer for a few minutes, making sure that it is cold. Use an ice cream scoop to carefully drop the dough onto a cookie sheet which has been lined with parchment paper. Bake the cookies in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes, and then transfer them to a wire rack to cool. The cookies can be served warm, or allowed to cool.
These delicious cookies go well with ice cream, and many people like to make an ice cream sundae by breaking up bits of cookie, topping them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzling hot fudge topping over the top. This easy to make sundae can be garnished with additional caramel topping, whipped cream, chopped nuts and a maraschino cherry.
