Candy Stuffed Baked Apples
A delicious treat for any time of day, candy stuffed baked apples provide a new twist on an old favorite.
Ingredients:
- 4 medium apples with the top 1/2 ” removed
- 1/4 cup roughly chopped toffee candy bar (Skor bars work great)
- 1/4 cup roughly chopped chocolate covered nougat nut candy bar (Snickers bars recommended)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup finely chopped toffee candy bar
- 1/4 cup finely chopped chocolate covered nougat nut candy bar
- 3/4 cup soft apple cider
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- vanilla ice cream
Preparation Steps :
Preheat over to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
Use an apple corer and melon baler to remove the stems, cores and seeds from the apples. When preparing the apples for baking be sure to leave the bottoms intact. Next, cut off the top half inch of each apple. Place the prepared apples in a baking dish.
Take the prepared chopped candy bars and stuff them in the apples. Use two tablespoons of chopped chocolate candy bar for each apple. Next, place 1-1/2 teaspoons of unsalted butter on top of the candy in each apple and stuff the finely chopped candy into the apples.
Use a mixing bowl to whisk together the cider and the sugar and pour the mixture over the apples. Bake the apples uncovered until they are tender. Usual baking time will be 1 hour and 20 minutes.
After the apples are done baking, remove them from the oven and allow them to sit for five minutes.
After the apples have been allowed to cool, place them on places and top each apple with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The juices from the baking pan can also be spooned over the apples for additional flavor.
